Dear Ian:
I grudgingly support CBC's plans to expand their radio transmitter and
programming hours in Kelowna.
I hope the citizens of Kelowna will return the favour and support CBC coverage
in Kamloops. As it is, we have none. No radio studios, no TV transmitter. In
fact, we are the only place in BC (perhaps Canada) that doesn't have a CBC TV
transmitter. You can drive 15 minutes north of Kamloops and watch CBC TV
over-the-air in the little town of Barriere. You can go to any town, village,
hamlet or intersection in the road in BC and watch CBC TV.
The locations of hundreds of CBC transmitters in BC can be found at http://www.cbc.ca/frequency/?BC
But not in Kamloops. Pity
Other than both starting with the letter "K", we are nothing like Kelowna any
more than Edmonton is like Calgary or Kingston is like Sarnia (both have CBC
transmitters).
So, excuse me if my joy over Kelowna's gain is a little muted.
