A digital channel can be broadcast in standard definition (SD) (Figure
1.2) or high definition (HD) (Figure 1.3).The HD channels take up more
bandwidth than SD. As such, a digital multiplex can contain one HD
channel and two SD channels or six SD channels. Most of us are familiar
with HD quality, and although SD isn't as good as HD, it is still much
better than analogue.
